Tony decided to pursue a career as a Physical Therapist based on extensive personal experience needing physical therapy himself. After graduating from Loyola Marymount University with his Bacherlor’s in Business Administration, Tony began a business based Masters program in Kinesiology at California State University, Long Beach. Midway through his courses, Tony tore all of the ligaments in his left knee in a basketball injury. He required extensive surgical repair, but his recovery was complicated by a severe infection and the need for four more surgeries. This long period of inactivity resulted in muscle atrophy, leaving him unable to walk for a year. When he began physical therapy, he was angry and frustrated. Fortunately, his physical therapist was not only incredibly knowledgeable and talented but understood the importance of psychological well-being in successful physical recovery. Tony became drawn to this field and enrolled at Northern Arizona University, graduating in early 2018 with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He remains fascinated by the human body and is determined to learn more about its rehabilitation, with special interests in Orthopedics, Parkinson’s, and Tele-Rehabilitation. In his spare time, Tony enjoys watching the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns, and Arizona Diamondbacks.
“My goal is to instill a sense of hope in my patients. I want to change their pessimism into optimism, through constant encouragement and motivation, as I truly believe that an empowered mental state can have an immeasurable effect on one’s physical state.”
