Aquatic Therapy Program

As an alternative to, or in conjunction with land based physical therapy programs, aquatic physical therapy offers many benefits.  Aquatic Physical Therapy is rehabilitation that is done by leveraging the benefits of water's physical characteristics (hydrostatic pressure, viscosity, buoyancy, and temperature).  During the initial phase of restoring function, unhealthy joints frequently need to be unweighted during therapy.  Water supports the body and reduces stress to the joints allowing muscles to be strengthened and toned while an injury heals.  Aquatic physical therapy is effective at increasing circulation, range of motion, muscle tone, balance and coordination, and strength and endurance.

Aquatic therapy is commonly used for the following diagnoses:

  • Back Pain or Surgery
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rotator Cuff Tear
  • Parkinsons
  • Partial Weight Bearing
  • Balance Disorder
  • Arthritis Pain
  • Hip or Knee Surgery
  • Ankle Sprain
  • Stroke

Our indoor therapy pools are heated and regularly maintained to rigorous sanitation standards.
